Oak Furniture Maintenance Kit

At Clementine Furniture, we recognize that the kitchen is one of the most heavily used areas of the home, subject to moisture, spills, and changes in temperature. As a result, your furniture may require some maintenance to keep it looking as good as new. It is usually the top of the stool seat that requires attention but the legs and rests may also benefit. To restore your furniture to its original out-of-the-box condition, we recommend taking the following steps once a year, or as necessary.

1. To restore the surface, gently rub the entire area with the sandpaper until it becomes smooth. Check the surface by touching it with your hand, and repeat the sanding process as necessary.

2. After sanding, use the provided cloth to remove any dust remaining on the surface. Shake the cloth outside to remove the dust.

3. Next, take a small amount of Hardwax oil and apply it to the cloth by holding the cloth over the top of the oil tin. Wipe a thin coat of oil onto the oak until the surface appears nourished. Remember, a little goes a long way, so if you apply too much product, wipe off the excess.

4. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for the Hardwax oil to dry. If you prefer a matte finish, leave it as it is, or use the second provided cloth to buff the surface for a shiny finish. You can apply additional coats of Hardwax oil to achieve a higher shine.
