Our Story
From tree to home ā solid oak and walnut furniture, designed and handcrafted in our Suffolk workshop.
The Clementine Furniture Story
Clementine Furniture was born from a love of wood and a desire to create something truly lasting. Having spent much of my life renovating period homes, I built my own workshop in 2001 to craft a kitchen and furniture for our family home. When I couldnāt find the stools I had in mind, I decided to make them myselfāembracing curves and angles that demanded an entirely new set of woodworking skills. I made more than I needed, listed the extras online, and to my surprise they sold instantly. From that moment, Clementine Furniture began to take shape.
Today, our small family business in Suffolk remains true to those beginnings. We work with solid hardwoodsāmainly oak and walnutāfrom Sutton Timber, our local sawmill in Sotterley. Traditional joinery, skilled handwork and modern precision come together in furniture designed for strength, comfort and lasting beauty. In our character range, knots and splits are filled with resin and finished smooth, turning the timberās natural markings into distinctive features.
The Sawmill
Our oak comes from Sutton Timber, just a short distance from the workshop. Buying locally supports a neighbouring business and reduces the distance our timber travels. We select every board carefully, celebrating useful natural character rather than treating it as waste.
The Workshop
Every piece is made by hand in our Suffolk workshop. We combine traditional carpentry with modern precision, paying close attention to the joints, shaping and finish. The result is comfortable, characterful furniture made for everyday useāand made to last.
